Position filled: Bilingual Preschool Teacher

Pepitas seeks part-time preschool and pre-k teachers for the 2021/2022 school year. We are a Spanish and English bilingual school with two co-teachers in each classroom to collaborate in English and Spanish in all subjects. Our school fosters a warm, nurturing environment with a small class size setting. This job includes planning, implementing, and assessing lessons. Pepitas uses a growth transcript model to collaboratively track student progress throughout the year and adheres to state standards in all subjects. Pepitas is a Christian school in North Seattle with a play-based and social-emotional focused program that puts relationships at the center of its work and is committed to fostering every child’s love of life-long learning. Pepitas has an ongoing commitment to the principles and practices of diversity and inclusiveness in the community and strongly encourages applications from candidates who would enhance the diversity of the organization. 

Job Details

  • Part-time: 26 hours per week
  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 8:30am – 1:30pm
  • Wednesday planning, prepping and staff meetings – 2 hours
  • Required work dates
    • August 16-19 all-staff training
    • August 23 – 26 summer camp (optional)
    • August 30 – September 2 summer camp (optional)
  • School meets from September 7 – June 20
  • Days off: national holidays, Shoreline School District winter break, mid-winter break, spring break 

Pay and Benefits

  • Pay: $18 – $25/ hr DOE at Pepitas

Qualifications and Skills

  • 18 years or older
  • High school diploma required, AA or BA preferred
  • 2- 3 years early childhood education experience
  • First Aid, CPR required within 60 days of hire
  • Negative TB test
  • Background check
  • Fluent in English or Spanish (bilingual preferred)
  • Excellent knowledge of child development and latest education theories and practices
  • Creative and artistic teaching abilities
  • Teaching and organization skills
  • Patient and flexible
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of positive discipline and growth mindset
  • Proficient in email, Google Docs, Brightwheel (training provided), Zoom (training provided)

All teachers at Pepitas are lead teachers. We seek teachers who fulfill the following criteria: 

  • Team player and collaborate throughout the day with co-teacher and staff
  • Prepare a wide variety of lessons and art projects that follow our school-wide curriculum map and keeps students engaged and challenged
  • Be or become familiar with Growth Transcripts for recording student progress
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records on the progress of individual students 
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences
  • Music and art a must
  • Follow school safety protocols for all students and staff 
  • Follow school protocols for health as directed by CDC
  • Maintain high level of cleanliness in classroom
  • Prepare daily class updates on Brightwheel app
  • Able to pivot to remote learning via Zoom as needed
  • Be patient, flexible and nurturing toward students and staff
  • Punctual for work
