The Assistant Director is a leadership position that supports the Preschool Director in the daily operations
of the school. This role helps oversee teaching staff, supports student and family needs, ensures
documentation and administrative tasks are completed, and helps keep the school running smoothly from
day to day. The Assistant Director collaborates with the Director to maintain a warm, safe, and nurturing environment
for children, families, and staff. When the Director is off campus, the Assistant Director assumes
leadership responsibilities. This position requires strong communication skills in English and Spanish, reliability, organizational
strength, and the ability to support both administrative and classroom needs in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

● Assume Director responsibilities during breaks when running school-wide camps
● Ability to support the Director Efficiently: Proactively sees what needs to be done without always
being asked and helps lighten the director’s administrative load
● Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information responsibly.
● Complete other tasks as assigned to support smooth school operations
Required Qualifications
● Bilingual (Spanish-English)
● Pass state background check
● Legal working documents to fill out I9 tax form
● First aid and CPR certified
● Understanding of early childhood developmental milestones
● Ability to stand for 4+ hours
● Ability to move items up to 40 pounds without assistance
● Comfortable working in outdoor weather conditions
● 18 years or older
Preferred Qualifications
● BA in business, communications or other relevant field
● Experience supervising staff
● Positive personal or professional experience with young children
● Familiarity with play-based, bilingual preschool settings
● Tech literacy: comfortable with email, Google Drive apps, Canva, Brightwheel, digital forms,
newsletters, billing systems. Can learn new systems quickly
● Has excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish, confident in reading and writing
in English and translating into Spanish
Program & Child Support
● Help maintain a safe, healthy, and welcoming preschool environment
● Support classroom teams, step into classrooms when staffing gaps arise
● Provide student support, including restorative practices
● Assist with first-aid communication and parent follow-up
● Participate in parent conferences
Staff Support & Leadership
● Support and supervise teaching staff in daily routines and expectations
● Assist with staff development, coaching and professional growth
● Assist in maintaining positive culture school-wide
● Lead or co-lead staff meetings (often in spanish), help review lesson plans and support
curriculum implementation
● Assist in recruitment, interviewing and onboarding of new staff
● Support staff appreciation initiatives and culture-building
Curriculum & Program Planning
● Collaborate on yearly curriculum map and ensure teachers have support and resources
● Support summer programming: set-up, student camp, staff orientation and open house
● Assist with planning and running school-wide events throughout the year
Administrative Operations
● Maintain organized administrative systems, files, and supplies
● Arrive prepared to complete building opening administrative duties
● Help with editing the parent newsletter and other communications (Canva knowledge is key)
● Support the yearly Family Survey process and compile information as needed
● Monitor the environment for safety concerns and report them to the Director
● Assist with community relations, marketing, and outreach projects
● Verbally interpret from English to Spanish in staff meetings
● Occasionally translate documents
Collaboration with Families & Community
● Build warm, professional relationships with parents
● Communicate clearly and consistently with families in alignment with Pepitas values
● Work in partnership with the community and church to contribute to school programs
● Assist in outreach to Spanish-speaking families
Bilingual Preschool Teacher Job Description
Pepitas seeks part-time preschool and pre-k teachers year-round for the school year.
We are a Spanish and English bilingual school with two co-teachers in each classroom to collaborate in English and Spanish in all subjects. Our school fosters a warm, nurturing environment with a small class size setting. This job includes planning, implementing, and assessing lessons. Pepitas uses a growth transcript model to collaboratively track student progress throughout the year and adheres to state standards in all subjects. Pepitas is a Christian school in North Seattle with a play-based and social-emotional focused program that puts relationships at the center of its work and is committed to fostering every child’s love of life-long learning. Job Details
- Part-time: 26 hours per week
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 8:30am – 1:30pm
- Wednesday planning, prepping and staff meetings – 2 hours

Qualifications and Skills
- 18 years or older
- High school diploma required, AA or BA preferred
- 2- 3 years early childhood education experience
- First Aid, CPR required within 60 days of hire
